It's RACE season in Iowa

It's early spring in Iowa, but racing season has already brought about several races in the area...with more on the horizon.  This weekend, we are planning for our first bout of racing for 2017 at the Marshalltown Speedway.   Promoter Toby Kruse, is presenting the 11th Annual World Nationals...a switch from his past fall shows, to making it a 2-day special this coming Friday and Saturday, March 31-April 1. This will be IMCA sanctioned for all four classes... the Modifieds, (which is open to the claim or crate engines) Stock Cars, Northern SportMods, and the Hobby Stocks.  Drivers can get an early start with practice on Thursday, March 30.  If Mother Nature allows for this early spring race,  drivers from far and wide will be making the trek to the High Banks of Marshalltown Speedway.  Ken Schrader, of NASCAR fame, plans to make an appearance, and veteran Minnesota driver and a fan favorite, Mark Noble, is set to participate. Also, rumor has it that Jeremy Payne, a five-time winner of the prestigious Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas,  is coming out of retirement and teaming up with Johnny "The Jet" Saathoff,  to try his hand on the fast quarter mile.  Will Jacob Murray capture his third World Nationals title?  You can bet money, that he will be putting forth the effort!  There is $10,000 waiting for the winner of Saturday's Modified feature, as well as a pretty cool World National's Championship belt!

The Modifieds will start their qualifying on Friday for the big Saturday show, while the Stock Cars and Northern SportMods vie for $1,000 and the Hobby Stocks $500 in full programs each day.
